Don't be fooled

In the play The Taming of the Shrew, the theme suggests that anyone can be fooled into something they don’t want to do so to achieve the things you aspire for, you must be careful. Katherine always wanted to be married, but her selfish attitude towards others caused people to scowl at her with hate. Although she wanted a husband, she didn’t want to be with a man who ordered her around and thought himself more significant than her, but that is exactly the man she married. Katherine goes from calling people names such as “a join’d stool” or a “buzzard” to speaking as an obedient woman who slaves up to her husband. “Thy husband is thy lord, thy life, thy keeper, thy head, thy sovereign; one that cares for thee.” Even Kate, the most stubborn character in the book was fooled into marrying a bossy man who told her to do everything. In the Tigers Bride, the speaker is tricked into coming to the castle and turning into a beast, but she was tricked in a completely different way from Kate. The girl was forced to go with the beast and eventually gave in and became a monster herself while Kate was hypnotized into following a biased man.
