The Others That Don't Fit In
In the short story,"Four Skinny Trees," by Sandra Cisneros the speaker uses an extended metaphor to compare herself to the trees which helps develop a theme of not fitting in. "They are the only ones who understand me. I am the only one who understands them. Four skinny trees with skinny necks and pointy elbows like mine. Four who do not belong here but are here (Cisneros,1)." The speaker is using the metaphor that she is similar to the trees who have the same physical traits as her. She compares herself to the trees by saying that they both aren't accepted in the world and that starts to develop the theme of not fitting in.

I agree with your thesis. It is very strong and seemingly easy to support. Can you use more evidence and dig deeper into the text?
