The theme of
The Taming of the Shrew is in
society, we are all made to play our roles, some of us may fight it, but no matter
what, we’re made to play that role and will fulfill it. This is maintained
throughout the play because of how Kate fights against the men in the Patriarchal
society, but as the story goes on and Petruchio starts to control her, she
shifts into a completely different character. The smart mouth feminist woman
turns into the ideal woman of the society who obeys the men and has become even more tamed than
her sister Bianca. This story explores how some people will fight what they’re
meant to become but they will become what they’re meant to none the less.
