A story
The poem, "A story" represents a father's love and his persistance. The poem uses metaphor's and irony to show how much the father loves his son. The central tension in the story is that the father wants his son to need him, and love him. He wants to be a good father for him and he wants his son to not give up on him and he wants to go back to the time that all was good between them and when his son needed him to read him bed time stories and loved him like a child. "In a room full of books in a world of stories, he can recall not one, and soon, he thinks, the boy will give up on his father." (A story) When he realized that one day his son would give up on him he tried so hard for the rest of that time to get his son to always be there. "Don't go! Hear the alligator story! The angel story once more! You love the spider story. You laugh at the spider. Let me tell it!" (A story) He tries so hard to make him stay but in the end he leaves.
