The duke seems like a very loving person in the begginig of the play, but as it continues on, you find out that he was the cause of the duchess's death. He has a painting of her hanging on the wall, and he tells his story of her. I think he has an appreciation for good art because it can tell a story. The story may be good or bad, but he gets to tell his story, which turns the attention on him. As his role in the creation of good art, he sees himself like the promoter of it. He has to get the art recognized, to show it to the world, and to tell stories through the art.

Art can tell a story. I like how you worded this all so clearly.
