3.) The incidents that caused the duke to eliminate his last duchess were getting drink on moonshine, flirting with other men, and possibly doing nasty thing with them in secret. This is a problem in any marriage, and in those times the duke was probably thinking that his wife is being ungrateful for the wealth and high status that she has just been married to. Another thing that the duke didn’t like about his last duchess was she was too optimistic and not thoughtful enough for him. His last duchess also wanted instant gratification. Being a wild wife who steps out of her place was a not the women's role at that time period.  These are attributes that are opposed the dukes values and the values of his society. So in order to sustain his high rank in society and supreme standard of living the duke disposed of her.
