Antigone"s development
The governing metaphor in lines 469-489 is comparing Antigone to a bird who is being hunted. "And she criend out a sharp, piercing cry, like a bird come back to an empty nest." (Sophocles, 80) Antigone is a lost bird who has nothing anymore and is extremely firghtened and scared by not having her brother anymore. Antigone is shown to be a caring, loving person who can't let go. "Closed in on the kill like hunters, and she, she didn't flinch." (Sophocles, 81) Antigone is a person who doesn't care after she lost everyting, she doesn't care if she is taken to jail. Antigone feels a guilt for others' actions. The development of Antigone is shown here from caring and loving to guiltridden.
