Antigone in the sentry's eyes.

In the paragraph of lines 469-489 that sentry describes Antigone as a bird. A bird that has flown from its nest only come back to an empty nest. “Like a bird coming back to an empty nest peering into its bed and all the babies gone..” (Lines 471-472) It describes Antigone as this because of the hardship she goes through when she finds out her children are dead and she cries and wails in agony. This reveals that she does have a motherly side and that she is very protective and that she really does care about a lot in her life. This shows that her development in the play over time really does change. She shows more of her softer sides and it just shows how much more stubborn she is. She fights for what she believes in. She is a martyr. She fights for her, what she believes in and for her life.
