Equality fits the myth cycle for the most part; however, the order of
some things must be altered for a perfect fit. Equality was called to adventure
in the beginning of the book when he felt the need to create something new for
society. He did not refuse the call, and was given protection in his underground
laboratory. He soon realized that he was rebelling (crossing the threshold into
the unknown) and found it difficult to keep his secret safe. He met his
“goddess”, the Golden One. He soon reached the bottom (defeat) when the Council
refused to accept his gift. Equality and the Golden One dedicated their lives
to each other as they were given the gift of the house from the unmentionable
times. They faced no refusal or need to return, but they did feel the need to
share their gift with the world by creating a new society. This in itself was
their way of preparing for the next call, with their new and improved society.

I think that Equality could be a hero because he was the one to stand out of his society. He has started the cycle but has not quite finished. he hasn't gone through every "box" but i say that he is probably at the recieving a gift or boon from gods because Equality 7-2521 already had a blessing. that was when he realized how his society was. So he is not finished yet with the cycle. -Jacky Vergil
ReplyDeletei think that equality ia hero, but he olny fits in a few of the things on the myth cycle. i find that he misses a few key boxes. like the initiation box and other lesser boxes.also i dnt think he will ever finsh the cycle just because of things that have happened nothing will be that easy.-justin k.
ReplyDeletei think this one is short and sweet but very good
DeleteEquality does fit the myth cycle but some boxes. He was called to an adventure when he wanted to make something for his society. But he did not refuse the call and had protection from that cave of his that he used to create the magical box. And the time he went to cross into the unknown was when he noticed he was different than other people. He did meet some difficult tasks such as fighting within himself about if he should tell people of his creation or not tell anyone. He also met his goddess which was Liberty, or the Golden One. He then meet his defeat when the World Council rejected his creation. Equality then misses the marriage or blessing stage, and receiving a gift from someone. He did not want to return but the Golden One did come to him as a rescue. Equality then found a house with many secrets, but didn't share it with the world besides with himself and the Golden One. And we don't know if he is waiting for another call, but he is living. Equality did make it through most of the steps of the myth cycle, but he missed some parts.-David Lai
