Love is a deep heart felt thing that can change any
person. In Taming of the Shrew, Kate clarifies that love is a powerful thing
which is not only Important to Kate but also, it is the theme represented in
Taming of the Shrew. Even though the plan was to tame the shrew (Kate) so
Bianca could get married, it benefitted Kate more than it did to Bianca. “Tis a
wonder, by your leave she will be tamed so.” (Act 5, Scene 2, Lines 192-193).
This shows that Lucentio was happy that not only was Bianca free to get,
married, but also he is happy that Kate is no longer a shrew. The same theme
can also be found in Antigone. Creon’s son, Haemon,
changes from following Creon’s orders to going to support his true love
Antigone. Since she hung herself, Haemon saw no other option and had to hung
himself too. In these two novels both have similar themes. - Jacky Vergil
