Antigone Metaphor

"And she cried out a sharp, piercing cry, like a bird come back to an empty nest (Sophocles,80)." This is the governing metaphor in this passage. This metaphor is trying to say how when you go back somewhere you thought was right, you ended up finding nothing and have nothing to do.  What it shows about Antigone is how she was alone and no one wanted to have anything to do with her. She was alone and she let out a "cry like a bird" because no one wanted her and she could not find anyone. Also she had buried her brother and when she had returned it was just the body on top of the grave. This is important to her character development because it characterizes how much she cares about her brother. At this time period she was caught and then brought to Creon. Her life was overall changed here because she was brought to Creon. This is where the story had a turning point  and Antigone changed as character overall.
