According to the myth cycle
Equality is a hero because he fallows almost every step. An example of
everything he has done in the myth cycle are:
·
Call to adventure: Equality was called to
adventure when he was a young boy and watched the transgressor get burned alive
for being a martyr to the word “I”.
·
Refusal of call: Equality refused to
fallow his call to knowledge and vowed when he was given his job to do the job
and nothing else.
·
Aid from a protective figure: The golden one
is a protective figure in a way, because she gave him the courage to show the counsel
his invention, she gave him inspiration and hope.
·
Crossing the threshold: Equality crossed
the threshold into the unknown when he started to explore the sewer.
·
Road of trials: Equalities road of trials
and difficult tasks were; talking to the golden one, talking to the counsel,
learning things in his special place, trying to figure out who he was, and
understanding/finding the word “I”.
·
Reaching defeat: He reaches defeat when the
counsel refuses his ideas and almost kills him.
·
Refusal of return: After the counsel shunned
him he never returned to the area and started seeking shelter in the uncharted forest.
The only aspects of the myth cycle that equality didn’t hit
were:
·
Marriage, baptism, or blessing
·
Receiving a gift or boon from the gods
·
Magic flight or rescue
·
Sharing the gift or elixir with the world
·
Living in the world
And it
makes sense why these things didn’t happen in Anthem because the story line wasn’t
like a regular heroic story. But none the less equality is still a hero because
he fallowed most of the myth cycle.
